Payment & Fees

Calendar:

School Year: 2 Semesters – Fall (September-January), Spring (February-June)
See calendar for school holidays/vacations.

Summer Semester: July-August (tuition and registration fees separate from School Year)

Tuition and Registration Fees:

School Year: $35 ($50 maximum per family) annual, non-refundable registration fee is due upon registration for Private Lessons (one-on-one instruction).  Full payment, including a $15 registration fee ($50 max. per family), is due for Classes and Ensembles (group instruction) at time of registration (registration required each semester, even for year-long classes/ensembles).  Private Lesson tuition is pro-rated for students who begin after the school year has started.

Summer: $5 ($10 max. per family) non-refundable registration fee for lessons or classes.  Payment in full is due upon registration for Classes and Ensembles, and upon placement/scheduling for Private Lessons.

Payment: Indian Hill Music accepts cash, checks, and Visa, MasterCard or Discover.  You may use the Automatic Debit Plan during the School Year for all plans, and your credit card will be automatically charged for each payment on the due dates.  There is a $25 fee for returned checks.

Family Discount: If one family member registers for Private Lessons, immediate family members receive a 10% discount on their Private Lessons.  Students enrolling for more than one Private Lesson receive a 10% discount on additional Private Lessons.  The discount is taken on the least expensive lesson(s).  Discount is for Private Lessons only, and is not applicable to summer Private Lessons.

Outstanding Balances: New registrations will not be processed until past due balances are paid in full. Indian Hill Music reserves the right to suspend or discontinue instruction of any student who is delinquent in fulfilling their financial obligation.

Withdrawals & Refunds: There are no refunds for a Class or Ensemble unless the course is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment or if Indian Hill Music or the student’s teacher determines that the student has been inappropriately placed.

New students who start Private Lessons are given a trial period of four lessons to ensure a good match.  After the fourth lesson, the placement becomes a commitment for the remainder of the year and there are no refunds.

Formal notification of withdrawal must be made in person, by email, or in writing to the School Manager, who must approve the withdrawal. Refund or credit may be granted due to special circumstances. Teacher notification is not considered formal notice of withdrawal. Non-attendance is not considered notice of withdrawal

If you wish to withdraw from the second half of the school year, written notification must be made to the School Manager by January 15 in order to release you from your financial obligations.

Financial Aid

Indian Hill Music is committed to providing music education to as many students as possible, regardless of financial circumstances. Scholarships are available for Private Lessons, Classes and Ensembles.  Scholarship award decisions are made prior to each semester.  The scholarship application deadlines are: August 15 for Fall, January 15 for Spring, and June 15 for Summer. Scholarship recipients will receive payment plan options with notification of their scholarship award. Fall applicants will receive awards based on a full year of tuition. Spring awards are based on tuition for a single semester.

Students or families receiving scholarship assistance will be asked to volunteer a small amount of time to Indian Hill Music. Funding for scholarships is provided by the Albert and Elizabeth Stone Scholarship Fund, the Charles Lincoln Gagnebin Memorial Fund, the Linda Marley Forrest Scholarship Fund and donations from our school community at our annual faculty and student Performathon.

If you are applying for a scholarship for a Private Lesson, Class, or Ensemble, please submit a registration form, a scholarship form, and a $50 deposit. Scholarship forms are available from the office or here on our web site. Please call the office with any questions.

Absences & Closings

Private Lessons: Private Lesson students are allowed two make-up lessons per year with 24 hours notice. If less than 24 hours notice is given for a student absence, the lesson is marked as an unexcused absence, and no credit will be issued for that lesson. If a teacher is absent, the lesson will be made up or the student will receive a credit at the end of the year. If a student misses a make-up lesson, there is no credit/refund and no additional make-up lesson. Student families and teachers are expected to work together to schedule make-ups. If a teacher offers a number of opportunities to schedule a make-up, but the student is unavailable for any of those times, the lesson will be forfeited and no credit will be given. Substitute teachers may be scheduled occasionally. Please inform your teacher if you prefer not to work with a substitute.

Summer Lessons: Students should register for a minimum of three lessons.  There are no make-ups or credits for lessons missed or cancelled by students in the summer term.

Classes & Ensembles: Individual absences for a Class or Ensemble cannot be made up. If a teacher is absent, the Class or Ensemble will be made up.

Tardiness: Students who are late for a lesson cannot be guaranteed their full lesson time. Faculty will wait for a student for one third of the lesson time before starting another lesson or leaving. Missed lesson time due to faculty tardiness will be made up at a mutually convenient time.

School Closings: For school closings due to inclement weather or emergencies call the office or check our website after 8:00 am for morning classes, 1:00 pm for afternoon classes, and 5:00 pm for evening classes. Only two make-ups per year will be offered for any Lesson, Class, or Ensemble cancelled due to a school closing. There is no refund or credit for subsequent closings.
