Alisa Bucchiere is on the faculty at Northern Essex Community College (as choral director and professor of music history and music theory) and at Fitchburg State University (as choral accompanist and group piano instructor). She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the Merrimack Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Alisa has also served as organist at First Church Congregational in Methuen and has performed as music director/accompanist for over forty theater shows.

Cynthia Bliss is active in the Merrimack Valley and Southern New Hampshire as an organist and conductor. A past dean of the Merrimack Valley Chapter of the American Guild of Organists, she performs regularly at AGO concerts and workshops, and is a regular accompanist at Northern Essex Community College in Haverhill, Middlesex Community College in Lowell, and the Music Academy of Chelmsford. Prior to teaching at Indian Hill, Cindy taught general music (pre-K-8), chorus, band, and drama at the Burke School in Tewksbury.
"I approach private teaching by tailoring the program to the needs of the individual student and family, so no two students follow the same course of study. With very young students (pre-reading), it is an exploration of technique and musicianship through musical games. For school age students, I use classical music from all periods as the foundation for study, supplemented by other styles depending on student interest. In addition to repertoire, lessons include theory, ear training, technique, music history, and practice strategies, developing the student into an independent learner."

Dr. Christina Dietrich began her piano studies at age three, made her first public performance at age five, and was a soloist with the NEC Orchestra at age nine. She has performed on world-renowned stages in the U.S. and Europe, including Jordan Hall and Symphony Hall in Boston, and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York, and has collaborated with such noted composers as Lucas Foss and Theodore Antoniou. Christina’s musical line extends back to Beethoven and Salieri by way of her teachers, descendants of both Franz Liszt and Theodor Leschetitzky. She takes great pride in having the honor and privilege of passing that legacy on to future generations – a mission she takes to heart as a teacher and performing artist. In addition to Indian Hill, Christina is an adjunct professor at Northern Essex Community College and Mount Wachusett Community College, a faculty member at the Steinway Piano Academy, and Founder/Director of the Chopin Conservatory of Music on the North Shore. Previously she held faculty positions at the New England Conservatory, Brookline Music School, and North Shore Community College. Christina was recently named Artistic Director of the Steinway Society.
Christina says: “Never underestimate the potential of a child!” Following the Socratic method of teaching by “bringing the student to the threshold of knowledge,” she presents the gift of music to students of all ages and levels.

Judit Ernst is a founding member of the Wachusett Chamber Players as well as a solo performer in the Northwest Boston area. She is also on the faculty at Fitchburg State University and was formerly a music and choral instructor at the Oxbow Schoolhouse.
"My teaching style is of a collaborative nature whereby students are encouraged to become an integral part of the learning process. Short and long term goals are set together as well as decision making on repertoire and focus for lessons. Technique and theory are mostly approached directly from repertoire that students are working on. Students are encouraged to evaluate their own work. Piano lessons are an opportunity to build a relationship with one's own self through the mastery of playing. I find it a privilege to be able to foster this process through the span of many years. "

Niva Fried’s broad range of repertoire and stylistic knowledge enables her to present substantial works suitable to each of her students abilities and tastes, as well as to effectively demonstrate passagework requiring advanced technical and musical skill. She maintains memberships in MMTA and NEPTA, and has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across the U.S., Europe, and Israel. Niva’s students are frequent and consistent winners of regional competitions, including NEPTA, MTNA, MMTA, and the prestigious Steinway Competition. Each year about a dozen students win auditions to perform in Carnegie Hall.

In the beginning stages, an important part of my approach is to build fundamentals by applying them immediately to attractive and appropriate music from the legitimate repertoire. Vladimir Gurin has taught in numerous disciplines, including music theory, ear training, music history, analysis of musical forms, arranging, conducting, and piano. A senior instructor in the College of Culture and Arts in St. Petersburg, Russia, he developed experimental courses in “Music for the Theater and Cinema” and “Modern Russian Music.” He also composed music for the theater and popular singers, and won the 1988 All-Union TV Competition for Composers. During his teaching career in the U.S., he received First Prize in the 1998 Composer Competition “Unleash the Sound.” In addition to Indian Hill, Vladimir is on the faculty at The Boston Conservatory, Powers Music School, and the Groton School.
Vladimir believes that studying music should be a joyful experience and that humor and a warm atmosphere are as necessary as working on the development of technical and artistic abilities. He also says that studying the elements of music theory facilitates the learning of new pieces. His repertoire includes pieces of different styles – from Baroque and Classical to Modern -- however, he feels that classical music is the foundation for every piano student. He enjoys teaching young beginners through advanced adult students.

Pamela Hines is a prolific and consistent presence in American jazz as a pianist and composer. She has received national and international critical acclaim for her edgy instrumental compositions as well as jazz originals for vocalists. Three of her trio’s CDs have reached the top 20 on national radio charts. Pamela’s compositions and harmonies earned her a guest appearance on the Peabody Award winning show, Piano Jazz with Marian McPartland, on National Public Radio. She has also been the host/pianist for Live Jazz New England on NPR affiliate 90.5-WICN since 2012. Pamela’s jazz club appearances include the Moakley Courthouse Summer Music Series, Prudential Summer Music Series, Les Zygomates, Fanwood Performance Series, Junebug Jazz Festival, Mechanics Hall, Ceres Bistro, Copley Art Society of Boston, Rose Art Museum, Chanler at Cliff Walk, Ryles, NARA Park, Acton Jazz Cafe, and a number of clubs in New York City. She has played or recorded with many of today's jazz greats including Jerry Bergonzi, Greg Abate, John Lockwood, Dave Clark, Les Harris, Jr., Yoron Israel, Jorge Perez-Albela, Giacomo Gates, Grace Kelly, Darren Barrett, Jacque Swarz-Bart, Marian McPartland, Bob Gullotti, Jim Porcella, and April Hall.

Eric Kamen is an active performer and composer. He has appeared at the Kodaly Music Institute Summer Program, Jordan Hall, the Gardner Museum, Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Sanders Theater, and WGBH-TV, and has toured in Mexico City at the University of Mexico. Formerly on the faculty of the Longy School of Music, he has served as pianist and assistant conductor for PALS/Voices Boston Children’s Chorus with performances at Tanglewood and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. As ‘Composer-in-Residence’ with City Stage Co., Boston, Eric’s original commissioned compositions were performed at the Massachusetts State House, the Brattle Theater, and on WCRB radio. Other original compositions have been commissioned and performed with Boston Composer’s New Music Series, New England Vocal Arts Ensemble, and Orchestra of Indian Hill.
“I emphasize the importance of 'practice discipline,’ coaching my students toward mindful, patient, and thoughtful practice technique. Students learn to read and interpret notation so that they can apply standard/universal score reading along with piano playing technique to every piece they learn. The music notation system is standard (developed over many centuries) and students will learn these reading and technical skills to apply on their own with the assistance of a nurturing and challenging coach. This approach translates into real learning rather than rote learning and dependence on the teacher. I challenge each student to their appropriate level as they grow and develop over their years of study. Competence and confidence is commensurate with steady application and disciplined practice. These attributes can carry over into every aspect of our lives.”

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, the daughter of a guitar craftsman and an aeronautical engineer, Tatiana Kolossova Bercu became an accomplished pianist by age 12. At 16 she was working at the Leningrad Concert Company as an accompanist and stage performer. She then held the position of Music Director at the Leningrad Film Company and two of St. Petersburg's leading theaters. After completing her musical education, Tatiana set off to share her musical talents in the United States. In 1991, she arrived on an exchange program to serve as Music Director for Boston University's theater company and remained to study at the Longy School of Music. Today she is an active pianist and organist in the New England region and a founding member of the River Rose chamber music ensemble.
According to Tatiana, her main approach to teaching music and performance is patience, building on the innate strengths of each student, and striving for perfect execution: “I use an approach that integrates many different aspects of music-making. This results in the most effective piano-learning approach with ease and joy in all age groups. The main focus is to learn music from the music itself. My job is to uncover and strengthen every student’s potential and to guide him/her through the process of matching his/her performance level to these potentials… and beyond.” Tatiana enjoys working with all ages (including adult beginners and continuing adult students). Besides building a solid musical foundation and piano skills, her students will learn improvisation, playing by sight, accompanying, and theory at the piano.

Rachel Kuang was previously on the piano faculty at Westminster Conservatory of Westminster Choir College and assistant professor of piano at Anhui Institute of Education in Anhui, China. Her students are regular recipients in many regional competitions. Rachel also prepares students for auditions in the National Guild of Piano Teachers (Teacher Division of the American College of Musicians). She has served as Chairperson at the Boston Center of the Guild since 2007.

Amy Lee is a multi-faceted musician who is passionate about collaboration, chamber music, and education. Her repertoire ranges from Bach and Martino to new music collaborations with young composers. She performs chamber music regularly with Trio d’amis and frequently collaborates with composer Timothy Dusenbury. From concert halls to libraries, salons and jazz clubs, Amy has performed internationally and across the East Coast, with chamber performances in the UK, the Sheung Wan Civic Center in Hong Kong, as well as recitals at in New York, Harvard University, Bentley University, and the Brevard Music Center. An active member of NEPTA and board chair of the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association (MMTA), she also enjoys giving guest music lectures at local colleges and high schools and performing community outreach. Aside from being a musician, Amy thoroughly enjoys photography, culinary arts, and third-wave coffee!
A dedicated teacher and adjudicator, Amy specializes in teaching piano, keyboard theory, and coaching piano ensembles. Her students often perform in community outreach, workshops, masterclasses, recitals, and state-wide Massachusetts Music Teachers Association events. Amy believes in fostering the love of music-making, developing a strong sense of pulse, listening, imagination, curiosity, dedication, and achievement.

Pei-Chun Lin offers expertise in teaching, conducting, directing, and composing in Classical, Jazz, Rock, and Popular musical styles. A versatile instructor, she teaches both piano and flute as well as coaching the School of Rock Ensemble. In addition to her work at Indian Hill, Pei-Chun serves as Music Director/Organist at First Baptist Church of Belmont and the Children's Choir Director at United Parish of Auburndale. She conducts the New England Asian Instrumental Ensemble and the Theater Orchestra at The Cambridge School of Weston, where she co-directed well-known musical productions such as Chess, Carousel, Beauty and The Beast, Anything Goes, and Once Upon A Mattress. She also served as Children's Choir Director/Organist at the Kings Chapel Church in Boston. Pei-Chun was commissioned by the Chinese government to compose original music to accompany a Beijing Style Opera, "The Beauty Trap," which was performed during a five week tour of China in 2011.

Shawn McCann is one of the area’s finest accompanists, adept at all styles of music from classical to pop and everything in between. He is active as a church music director and solo performer on both piano and organ. Since 1995, Shawn has been the Director of Music for the First Parish Church of Groton where he manages an active music program including three choirs of various age groups. In addition, he often works with the Nashoba Valley Chorale.

Tamara Medoyeva taught piano performance and the principles of the Russian Piano School for 20 years at Almaty Conservatory of Music in Russia. She has accompanied her students at the Annual Piano Performance Competition in Kazakhstan, as well as string players and vocalists.
Tamara’s teaching philosophy is one of deep responsibility to her students. Although she takes a serious, academic approach on a high professional level for those looking to prepare for competitions and performances, she also enjoys teaching students who simply wish to better understand music. "Music is not just about how to move your fingers. History, theory, and structure of music are also important,” she says. “I believe I have a mission to bring my students into the world of music: to teach them to express themselves, to make them believe they are creative, and to help them use their imagination and skills. That's the greatest thing I can teach."

Dr. Penny Pan Ouellette, is a dedicated teacher and adjudicator specialize in teaching piano, theory, and coaching chamber ensembles. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Claremont Graduate University in Historical Performance Practice, focusing on techniques of period keyboards, and Brazilian/Cuban/Jazz infused piano repertoire. She is a National Certified Teacher of Music through Music Teachers National Association and Certified Yamaha Music Education teacher trainer. Before moving to Boston for the family, She was on the piano faculty at California State University Los Angeles from 2001-2016, and at West Los Angeles College from 2008-2016. Besides teaching, she was the State Vice President for California Association of Professional Music Teachers, the President for CAPMT Greater Pasadena Chapter, and the Chair for Music Teacher Association of California - Los Angeles Dozen Charitable Trust Fund Grant Concerto Competition. Currently, in addition to Indian Music School, She is on the faculty at the Winsor School and Yamaha Music School of Boston.

Sally White Reed is a former accompanist of the Cambridge Chorale, organist at Swedenborg Chapel in Cambridge, and served as organist for First Parish UU Church in Concord for ten years. A soloist with the Concord Church ’s Festival Orchestra, she has performed in numerous Baroque chamber music concerts at Old North Church, MIT Chapel, and First Parish Meeting House on the Common at Shirley Center. Sally has also been on the faculty at Groton School and Lawrence Academy. She is a member of the New England Piano Teachers Association.

Michael Rice’s career as a piano and music teacher has spanned 15 years across China, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He often travels to China to give training workshops in Chinese as the lead clinician for Piano Adventures. In addition to being a licensed Music Together teacher, Michael also has experience as an organist/choir director, theater music director, and accompanist. He was previously on the faculty at Changzhou Trina International School in China’s Jiangsu Province.
Michael believes that when students and teachers meet at a common ground with open hearts and minds, then true learning can begin.

Heather Riley is a devoted piano instructor, performance coach, adjudicator, and performer. An active member of the Massachusetts Music Teachers Association and the New England Piano Teacher’s Association, she is increasingly in demand as an adjudicator for competitions, evaluations, and giving masterclasses for local teachers, including the MMTA Music Achievement Evaluations and the South Shore Conservatory Piano Competition. Heather’s performance experience includes winning the Oregon East Symphony Concerto Competition in 1999; recitals of Spanish piano and guitar music with her husband, Will Riley; and numerous solo and chamber recitals in the Boston area, California, Texas, and Washington. Heather’s students have received the highest marks in the state for the Royal Conservatory of Music Program, and many have won awards in notable competitions such as the MMTA Judged Recitals Festival, MMTA Bay State Competition, and the American Protege International Piano Competition. She also prepares students for exams in The Royal Conservatory Achievement Program.
Heather brings dedication and inspiration to every lesson. She fosters a love of learning and self-awareness, and playing with beautiful expression, proper technique, and artistic skill. By providing the necessary structure that both challenges and motivates students, Heather encourages each person to strive for personal excellence and realize their full potential. One of her goals is to empower her students with effective practice strategies and problem-solving skills, helping students discover the success and joys of making music.

Dr. Keun-Young Sun, a native of Seoul, Korea, began her piano studies at age 5. After she received her bachelor’s degree in Korea in 1996, she came to the United States to study with Veronica Jochum and Irma Vallecillo at the New England Conservatory. As a scholarship recipient, she went to Aspen Music festival in 2005, where she worked with such acclaimed musicians as Anthony Eliot, Rita Sloan, and Peter Oundjian. Dr. Sun has been performing as a collaborative pianist as well as a solo pianist at numerous venues, including the Benedict Music Tent in Aspen; Williams Hall, Jordan Hall, and Brown Hall in Boston; and Rudolph Ganz Hall in Chicago. She also founded the Eclatant Piano Trio, which has given chamber recitals in Korea and the U.S. Dr. Sun often collaborates with faculty members at New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory Division, Tufts University, Endicott College, and Longy Music School. In addition to Indian Hill Music School, she is a staff pianist at The Boston Conservatory and a church musician at the First Baptist Church in Reading.

Jenny Tang was born in Hong Kong and began her musical studies at age three with her mother. Awarded the Licentiate Diploma from the Royal Schools of Music (UK) in piano performance, she was also honored as a Fellow of the Trinity College of Music in London. Jenny regularly performs in solo and chamber music recitals in the U.S. and abroad. Her engagements include such venues as Jordan Hall, Sanders Theatre, Symphony Hall, Berklee College of Music, Wellesley College, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. She is also a lecturer at Wellesley College (teaching music theory and piano performance) and is Assistant Director of the Wellesley College Chamber Music Society. She frequently collaborates with the college’s Theatre Department as Music Director for productions that have included "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" and "The Home Front."

Dr. Monica Tessitore is a Brazilian-American pianist/educator, soloist, and chamber musician. She has appeared with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Brasilia Symphony Orchestra, the Hartt Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra de L’Empodá in Spain, and Orchestra of Indian Hill. As a chamber musician, Monica has participated in the Taos Chamber Music Festival and the International Music Festival of Brasilia, winning numerous accolades for her performances. She was co-artistic director and pianist for the former Indian Hill Chamber Players from 2004-2011, performing many important works from the piano chamber music repertoire. Monica has also appeared in concert with distinguished ensembles and soloists, such as the Emerson String Quartet, Walden Chamber Players, and Peter Stumpf (principal cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic). International appearances include performances in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Brazil, South Korea, and China, where she gave masterclasses at Beijing’s Central Conservatory Middle School and performed with cellist Ning Tien. She has also performed at the Musica no Museu in Rio de Janeiro and in the recital series at Indian Hill Music and Assumption College. In 2015, Monica was Artistic Director of the "International Piano Week” summer festival at Cushing Academy, which brought together students, faculty, and guest artists from several countries. Her most recent CD -- an all-Schubert program -- was recorded on the Bostonia label with guest artists Sergey Antonov, cello, and Ellina Blinder, piano. In addition to Indian Hill, Monica is on the faculty at Cushing Academy and Assumption College.
As an educator, Monica takes each student’s needs, personality, and interests into consideration when teaching. She is passionate about music and strongly believes that it is one of the most nourishing activities that a human being can experience. “I feel lucky to be able to teach a subject that will forever benefit my students, no matter their individual level and capacity,” she says.

Dr. Sarah Tocco has maintained an active concert career both as a soloist and ensemble pianist since her debut at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall in New York as an accompanist. Sarah’s solo appearances include concerts at the Manaus Opera House in Brazil; the Opera House at Haiphong, Vietnam; and The International House of Music in Moscow, where she was the first American pianist to perform there. She currently appears at the Newport Contemporary Music Series and other venues in New England. Known for her lyrical and expressive tone and sensitivity in Romantic music, Sarah’s CD of music by Chopin, Brahms and Schubert has been described as “beautifully moving” and “a wonderful rendition of Brahms with depth and insightful interpretation.” She is also music director at First Parish in Westwood and has been a guest lecturer at UMass-Lowell and Northeastern University.

Linda Vieira has been teaching piano students of all ages for over 25 years and enjoys working with beginners as well as more advanced students. She has performed in recitals in the Boston area as well as other venues in New England. She is also an active member of NEPTA (New England Piano Teachers Association). Linda has been on the Indian Hill faculty since 1993, started the group piano program, and taught classes in the early childhood program.
Linda is a patient and supportive teacher. She feels a student's first teacher is extremely important to spark a love of music and get them off to a great start. Her teaching style includes a variety of approaches depending on a student's learning style. Linda's lessons are tailored to meet the needs and interests of the student. She feels that classical music provides the foundation for lessons and can be supplemented with a mix of popular, folk, and jazzy music. Lessons at all levels include music reading, theory, technique, ear training, and most importantly, how to make practice effective and enjoyable.

Masako Yotsugi was resident pianist at the Boston Harbor Hotel from 2004 to 2009 and at Joe Tecce’s in Boston’s North End from 2007 to 2009. She entertained guests with her broad knowledge of the American Song Book and contemporary popular music. Her first CD, “Drifting,” was released in 2016 on iTunes, CDbaby, and Amazon. As a teacher, she has been on the faculty at the Boston Center for Adult Education and Newton Community Education. With her gift of innate perfect pitch, Masako developed a remarkable skill in transcribing recorded music. She has worked with a variety of well-known artists, accurately notating musical scores essential to their recordings, books, and publishing projects. She also played a strategic role as a personal proofreader/performer for Ray Santisi’s book, Berklee Jazz Piano.
Masako employs several methods in her teaching, including left hand activity, right hand harmonization of melody, voicing techniques, improvisation, re-harmonization, and accompaniment for vocal or instrumental music. She says that, “All of these methods will create a fullness of sound necessary for solo jazz piano.” This comprehensive approach, including piano technique and theory, can be applied to any musical style, from jazz and pop to contemporary rock, and more.
