A Message From Indian Hill CEO Lisa Fiorentino
Hello to our Indian Hill Music friends! I’m Lisa Fiorentino, Indian Hill’s CEO, reaching out to you from my home office. I hope that all of you are staying safe and healthy during this incredibly challenging time. Knowing that you are so committed to Indian Hill Music, I wanted to take a bit of time to share with you what we are doing to navigate this crisis.
You all know we have exceptional faculty; and they have illustrated for us yet again how incredible they are by adapting so quickly to online lessons for our students. Our faculty have embraced the new technology, and risen to the challenge of making sure that we’re able to connect with our students. And our dedicated students have jumped right in to make sure that learning continues.
I have had so many success stories told to me about online lessons and one that really stuck out to me is a faculty member who explained that she finds online lessons comforting because she’s able to be with her students during this extremely difficult time. She finds the connections she has with her students are so important to her life. I am so pleased that we’ve been able to find a way to continue to bring each other together in some fashion during this incredibly difficult time.
While our online lessons continue for our private lesson students, our group and ensemble opportunities are on hold. For those students, we want you to know that we realize the void that is created by this lack of social interaction. Our faculty miss seeing you, and we look forward to the time when we can actually be together again, and you can share your music, and your music making, with your peers.
We were also deeply disappointed that we had to cancel so many of our live performances, including two orchestra concerts, our Headliner Series, our annual Performathon fundraiser, and so many other events. For all of you who are missing our Orchestra, please go to our Orchestra of Indian Hill website and access Instant Encore, where you are able hear archived audio performances of our wonderful Orchestra — and you can listen in the comfort of your home. Additionally, please make sure that all of you are following us on social media for fun and inspiring videos and posts that help to make music front and center in our lives.
I want you to know that our dedicated staff are working full time remotely, staying connected, and making sure that we are planning for our future when we are all able to gather together again as an organization.
I am sure you realize that this crisis is imposing a serious financial toll on our organization. All of the individuals within Indian Hill – our musicians, our faculty, and our staff – are impacted by what is happening now. Working with our board and our senior staff, I have been exploring options for how we can make sure to take care of all those individuals who rely on Indian Hill Music for their livelihood. To do this, we need your generous support. Knowing that we all have our own individual circumstances, I humbly ask that you consider making a donation to Indian Hill Music to whatever degree you are able.
I am so grateful for all of you – our valued Indian Hill Music community — and I so look forward to the day when we can gather together again to make meaningful connections through vibrant live music experiences. Until then, please know that we miss you — and please, stay safe and healthy.
Indian Hill Music shares the transformative power of music, through teaching and performing, and giving music generously when there is need.
