Experience our acclaimed high-level flute ensemble,

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the health and safety considerations around COVID-19, and the fact that synchronous music-making on the internet is almost impossible to achieve, we have made the difficult decision to suspend this program until it is safe to rehearse and perform again in person. Please see our COVID-19 response page to learn more about how Indian Hill Music is navigating the pandemic by prioritizing the health and safety of our students, families, faculty, and staff.

The 20-member New England Flute Orchestra of Indian Hill Music features all members of the flute family, from the piccolo to the contrabass flute. Director Eileen Yarrison has led this ensemble of professional and semi-professional flutists in several world premieres, two commissions, and three CD recording projects. They perform several concerts throughout the season at Indian Hill Music and in the community.

CHAMBER MUSIC OPPORTUNITY: We are pleased to offer an alternative to the Flute Orchestra until we can gather together once more as a full group! Our Online Custom Ensemble program is designed for small groups to work and play together from the safety of home. Small ensembles include duos, trios, quartets, and quintets. Utilizing the familiar format of a Zoom meeting and simple technology like iPhone or iPad and the Acapella app, musicians will learn and prepare their chamber music for audio/video recordings to share with friends and family. We will work with each individual to put together a group that is matched by skill level and interest, and a schedule (length of session, number of weeks) that fits your busy lifestyle. Fill out our Custom Ensemble Questionnaire to get the process started!

History of the Ensemble

The New England Flute Orchestra of Indian Hill Music (formerly the Nashua Flute Choir) is a professional level ensemble made of up of music educators, church musicians, and flutists with formal training and a life-long commitment to music. Dr. Eileen Yarrison, a flute instructor at Gordon College and Indian Hill Music School, will continue to direct the ensemble at Indian Hill. Founded as a four-person ensemble in 1983, this voluntary, non-profit organization was devoted to the cultural and musical enrichment of Nashua, and surrounding communities in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for more than thirty years. The ensemble has premiered five commissioned works, has recorded three CDs, and was featured on television’s New Hampshire Chronicle. They have performed at several National Flute Association Conventions and in Boston’s Symphony Hall. In 2014 The Nashua Flute Choir changed its name to the New England Flute Orchestra, reflecting the growth of the ensemble, the geographic range of its performing venues, and plans for the future.
