Custom Ensembles - Online

We can create a safe, online small ensemble just for you!

Flexible schedules, musical styles to suit your taste, expert faculty coaching

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the health and safety considerations around COVID-19 we have made the difficult decision to suspend all in-person group programs until it is safe to meet again. Please see our COVID-19 response page to learn more about how Indian Hill Music is navigating the pandemic by prioritizing the health and safety of our students, families, faculty, and staff.

We are pleased to offer an alternative to our large and small ensembles until we can gather together again as a full group! Our Online Custom Ensemble program is designed for small groups to work and play together from the safety of home. Small ensembles include duos, trios, quartets, or quintets. Utilizing the familiar format of a Zoom meeting and simple technology like iPhone or iPad and the Acapella app, students will learn and prepare their ensemble music for audio/video recordings to share with friends and family. We will work with each student to put together a group that is matched by skill level and interest, and a schedule (length of session, number of weeks) that fits your busy lifestyle. Frequently Asked Questions:

Why should I consider participating in a small ensemble?

Playing music with others is an essential element in developing your musical craft and ramping up the learning process in a very enjoyable way. Beginners will make faster progress, experienced musicians will be challenged to higher levels, and everyone can share one of the true joys of music through learning and playing together. Students of all styles of music – classical, jazz, rock – are invited to sign up for a Custom Ensemble.

How do the rehearsals work?

Our new ONLINE Custom Ensemble program provides a group experience from the safety of your own home. You will work with one of our skillful faculty coaches in preparing and recording your music in both audio and video format. Rehearsals are held through the Zoom meeting platform, and recordings utilize the Acapella app for iPhone or iPad.

Can anybody join an ensemble?

Experience in a chamber group or small ensemble is not required to participate in an ensemble, but students should have good basic technique on their instrument and strong music reading skills. If you have played in an ensemble before our Online Custom Ensemble program is a great way to get back to collaborating with fellow musicians.

What does the program cost?

The tuition for a Custom Ensemble is based on the number of rehearsals, the length of each session, and the number of musicians in your group. You will not be charged tuition until you have been placed in a group.
