Niva Fried

Teaching Philosophy

“It is a wonderful feeling to see students develop a genuine love for making music and a commitment to intelligent and rigorous practicing. In the beginning stages, an important part of my approach is to build fundamentals by applying them immediately to attractive and appropriate music from the legitimate repertoire. I have amassed an eclectic collection of appealing and satisfying music, which I use to demonstrate the theoretical and technical foundations of piano playing in a comfortable and accessible format.”

Education

B.M.A., Rubin Academy, Tel Aviv; M.M. and Doctoral studies, Boston University. Additional studies at Hochschule fur Musik (Stuttgart) and New England Conservatory. Principal teachers: Leonard Shure, Maria Clodes, Gabriel Chodos. Awards for excellence in performance, including the Aaron Richmond and Harvard Music Association Distinction Awards.
