Percussionist and drummer Tim Kane thrives in challenging, creative, and collaborative music environments, including theater pit bands, a rock tribute group, drum circle facilitation, jazz ensembles, drum set and percussion instruction, and writing/blogging. A lifelong student of the drum set, Tim branched out 10 years ago to develop a public and private therapeutic hand drumming program in Massachusetts for both kids and seniors. He became a certified drum circle facilitator and currently serves as curator and board member for the international Drum Circle Facilitators Guild. He continues to blog about drumming and drum education while performing throughout New England with his popular touring trop-roc and samba quintet, The Island Castaways Band. As a freelancer, Tim holds down drum set with the Trinity Jazz Big Band in addition to playing trap kit, vibraphone, and percussion in area theater pit bands. His professional memberships include the American Federation of Musicians, American Music Therapy Association, and Mass. Music Educators Association. He endorses Noble & Cooley Drums, Zildjian cymbals and Vic Firth drum sticks. At Indian Hill Music, Tim currently leads weekly group bucket drumming classes for kids in our outreach programs in the Boys and Girls Clubs in Leominster, Fitchburg, and Gardner.
