Teaching Philosophy

Dr. Zhang’s teaching philosophy is that every student has the potential to succeed if they are given the right opportunity. “As a teacher, my goal is to identify and amplify students’ strengths, and help them to find a deeper appreciation and love for music in their lives,” she says.

Biography

Dr. Yidan Zhang is a violin soloist, chamber musician, and dedicated teacher. She has performed in solo recitals as a cultural exchanger through musical celebrations between China and the United States. Her awards include first prize in the 2016 Atlanta Music Club Scholarship Competition and the 2021 Hugh Hodgson School of Music Concerto Competition where she was soloist with the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Dr. Zhang’s orchestral experience has included the Shanghai Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Columbus State Orchestra, Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Lagrange Symphony Orchestra, and Savannah Symphony Orchestra. A pleasant, responsible, and reliable person with a strong passion for teaching, Dr. Zhang has taught music lessons to students of all ages since 2015. Under her guidance, many of her students have joined the All-State Symphony Orchestra.
