Zahili Gonzalez Zamora Duo

Latin Jazz

“Through the lens of her Afro Cuban heritage, Zahili’s music is a beacon of multiculturalism and global unity…” – WBENC

Cuban-born composer/pianist and vocalist Zahili Gonzalez Zamora joins with her husband Gerson Esteban Lazo Quiroga on bass for a unique Afro Cuban Jazz experience. Zahili’s music sets its foundation in the deep traditions of Cuban music, bebop, funk, and soul while giving a nod to more current artists such as Michel Petrucciani and Eryka Badu. Graduates of Berklee College of Music, Zahili and Gerson have performed internationally in various events, such as the Montreal Jazz Festival 2015, the 59th Monterey Jazz Festival, and the Wolf Ferrari Haus in Ottobrunn, Germany, in which they were highly acclaimed. Their ensemble MIXCLA holds the Downbeat Magazine Latin Group Outstanding Performance win (2017), as well as the Boston Music Awards nomination for International Artist of the Year (2018). Indian Hill audiences will remember their invigorating appearance on Indian Hill’s Headliner’s Series last season.
